03 I Put Ginger In My Coffee

You can relax, I put ginger in my coffee.
For several years now, I’ve been drinking my coffee black. The biggest reason was that I lost the taste for having sugar so I slowly weaned myself off from about 2 teaspoons in a cup to none. I use to put about 2 tablespoons of creamer in the cup but now it’s totally optional. I now rarely put about 1 teaspoon of creamer at that. One day at a former job, a coworker put cinnamon in a pot of coffee saying it tasted good. When I tried it, I had to admit it did taste good but there had to be some benefit to adding cinnamon1. In short, cinnamon’s benefit was to prevent general illness. Recently I thought about what else I could add to make coffee work more for me than drinking it black with some cinnamon. One day the idea came to add some ground ginger2 like Indians add to their chai and it actually tasted pretty good. I think I put too much the first time though as it was super strong. Since then I’ve found that 1 teaspoon is perfect. In short, the benefit of ginger is the relief of pain and relieving the loss of appetite. Since adding both ginger and cinnamon to my coffee, I’ve found that rather only waking me up in the morning and making me hungry faster, my appetite is normalized and I feel hungry at about the same time as if I didn’t have any caffeine in my system.

In summary, I have found that black coffee with ginger and cinnamon is a great way to start the day and avoid the bloated full feeling after having a decent lunch of a smoothie with vegetables or meat.
